The East Lyme Public Library's “Middle Schoolers Make Comics and Graphic Novels Project” was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the Connecticut State Library. Funds were also provided by the East Lyme Public Library through its Annual Fund Drive. The artwork and photographs may not be reproduced or posted on other websites.

From December 2021 through August 2022 East Lyme Public Library held a series of comics and graphic novel workshops for middle school students. The Library partnered with East Lyme Middle School by promoting the program to its students. The Library partnered with the East Lyme Middle School by promoting the program to students. The workshops were taught by Jason Deeble who is a professional cartoonist, author, illustrator, and educator.

During the workshops, the middle schoolers wrote stories, drew comics, and learned computer skills. They learned how to upload their artwork using MP Navigator. Next they edited, laid out cartoon boxes, and dropped in text using the computer program, MS Paint.
