Songs of the British Invasion with Dawn Indermuehle and Rick Spencer

  • East Lyme Public Library 39 Society Road Niantic, CT 06357 (map)

When the Beatles’ music first arrived in America it triggered a huge cultural shift. Suddenly everything that was British was fascinating and sexy. British fashion, cars, TV shows, and especially music were of great interest here in the States. It’s not surprising the phenomenon came to be known as the “British Invasion.” Following the Beatles’ success, a parade of hot, exotic bands arrived on our shores and on the charts. Herman’s Hermits, Chad and Jeremy, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Dusty Springfield, Petula Clark, the Rolling Stones, The Dave Clark 5, the Animals, and many others brought hit after hit to our radios and turntables. Dawn Indermuehle and Rick Spencer present their versions with historical background, on some of their favorite British Invasion songs.
Rick and Dawn develop and present theme-based music and history programs. They present songs that give cultural insight into interesting times, places and events in American history. Rick and Dawn carefully craft their vocals and accompaniment to sound as true to a song’s era or style as possible. Their vast repertoire includes music from the Colonial era to the present day and illustrates the evolution of our nation’s culture and history in an informative and entertaining way.
